Fiery Searcher (Calosoma scrutator)

Calosoma scrutator occurs in the Americas, from southern Ontario (Canada) to northern South America (Venezuela). It is found in woodlands, grasslands, fields, orchards, and urban areas. This species has a bright green elytra with a reddish rim; size 25-35 mm. Adults and larvae prey on caterpillars.
